We surveyed 163 licensed daycare providers to discover the most interesting facts about daycare waitlists in Saskatchewan.
The survey was conducted in December 2022. All survey responses were direct responses from the daycare providers.

Saskatchewan daycare waitlist statistics

We surveyed 163 licensed daycare centers and home daycares in Saskatchewan.
Regina and Saskatoon were the only cities included in the survey.
99 Saskatoon daycares and 64 Regina daycares were surveyed for a combined total of 163 licensed daycares.
Our survey yielded the following findings:
- Saskatchewan daycares have an average of 87 children on a waitlist
- Home daycares in Saskatoon have an average of 34 children on a waitlist
- Daycare centers in Saskatoon have an average of 244 children on a waitlist
- The median number of children on Saskatchewan daycare waitlists is 18
- 1,000 children was the maximum number of children on a single daycare waitlist
- 14% of surveyed daycares had no children on their waitlist
Saskatoon daycare waitlist statistics


We surveyed 99 licensed daycare centers and home daycares to learn about daycare waitlists in Saskatoon.
Our survey yielded the following findings:
- Saskatoon daycares have an average of 99 children on a waitlist.*
- Home daycares in Saskatoon have an average of 40 children on a waitlist
- Daycare centers in Saskatoon have an average of 281 children on a waitlist
- The median number of children on Saskatoon daycare waitlists is 20
- 1,000 children was the maximum number of children on a single daycare waitlist
- 13% of surveyed daycares had no children on their waitlist
Saskatoon survey notes:
- *Both the number of surveyed daycares and the average waitlist length is 99.
- Saskatoon had a total of 209 licensed daycares at the time of the survey. Therefore, surveyed daycares represented 47% of all licensed daycare providers in Saskatoon.

- The city of Saskatoon has an average daycare rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars.
- 36% of Saskatoon daycares have zero reviews.
- 43% of reviewed daycares have a 5 star average rating.
- There are no 1 star daycares in Saskatoon.
- 28% of Saskatoon daycares are wheelchair accessible.
Regina daycare waitlist statistics


We surveyed 64 licensed daycare centers and home daycares to learn about daycare waitlists in Regina.
Our survey yielded the following findings:
- Regina daycares have an average of 69 children on a waitlist
- Home daycares in Regina have an average of 24 children on a waitlist
- Daycare centers in Regina have an average of 191 children on a waitlist
- The median number of children on Regina daycare waitlists is 15
- 800 children was the maximum number of children on a single daycare waitlist
- 15.6% of surveyed daycares had no children on their waitlist
Regina survey notes:
Regina had a total of 171 licensed daycares at the time of the survey. Therefore, surveyed daycares represented 37.4% of all licensed daycare providers in Regina.
