We worked closely with a data analyst to discover the most interesting facts about daycare providers in Regina.
74 daycare centers and home daycares were analyzed.
We also analyzed over 460 daycare reviews.
Daycare licence status was not a factor in this study. Analysis results include both licensed and unlicensed daycares.
In this post, the word “daycare” is used to collectively refer to all the daycare providers that we analyzed.

- The city of Regina has an average daycare rating of 4.4 stars.
- 2% of Regina daycares have a 1 star average rating.
- 56% of reviewed daycares in Regina have a 5 star average rating.
- 35% of Regina daycares have zero reviews.
- 79% of reviewed daycares in Regina have an average rating of 4 stars or higher.
- 96% of reviewed daycares in Regina have an average rating of 3 stars or higher.
- Daycares in the Sherwood-Mccarthy neighbourhood have the most reviews.
- North Central is the neighbourhood with the most daycares.

35% of all the Regina daycares that we analyzed had no ratings or reviews at all. Meaning, parents of enrolled children in roughly 1 out of every 3 daycares that we analyzed have neither recommended nor disapproved of their daycare provider by posting an online review.
The lack of reviews in roughly 1 out of every 3 Regina daycares could mean that the parents of enrolled children in these daycares are satisfied, but not impressed with their child’s daycare provider.


Regina has an average daycare rating of 4.4 stars
When we added up the daycare ratings of all the Regina daycares that we analyzed and calculated their average, we found that the city of Regina had an average daycare rating of 4.4 stars.
If Regina daycares were hotels, they would be rated “upscale in comfort but short of glamorous” on average.


2% of Regina daycares have a 1 star average rating
You’re more likely to get food poisoning this year than you are to pick a Regina daycare with a 1 star average rating from our list of daycares with at least one review.
According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, 1 in 8 Canadians get sick each year from contaminated food.

What is the best daycare in Regina?
In our analysis, we found over 20 daycares in Regina with a 5 star average rating.
However, ratings and reviews alone are not sufficient in determining which daycare provider is the best for your child.
We recently published a list of the best daycare providers in Regina. The list includes the best daycares in different categories such as the best Montessori, special needs, French speaking, and 24 hour daycares.
In a separate study, we discovered that daycares in Regina have an average of 69 children on a waiting list.

Daycares in the Sherwood-Mccarthy neighbourhood have the most reviews
Daycares in the Sherwood-McCarthy neighbourhood received more combined reviews than any other neighbourhood in Regina that we analyzed.
North Central has the most daycares
The North Central neighbourhood in Regina had the highest number of daycares of all the neighbourhoods that we analyzed.
When we calculated the average daycare rating for all North Central daycares with at least one review, we found that daycares in North Central Regina have a 4.6 star average rating.
Which neighbourhoods provide the best daycare in Regina?
If you’re planning on raising a family in Regina, certain neighbourhoods stand out for providing better child care than others.
We added up the daycare ratings of the Regina daycares that we analyzed on a neighbourhood by neighbourhood basis.
We then calculated the average daycare rating for each neighbourhood.
The following neighbourhoods had the highest average daycare ratings in Regina.

Methodology:
The data analysis and insights reported above were performed by a data analyst with an MBA with a focus in Business Analytics and Marketing Management. Mean, Median, and Mode data was determined using descriptive statistics to only consider data with values. Meaning, daycares without ratings were not included in mean, median, or mode of ratings. Pivot tables were the primary method for analysing data, such as: Borough v Average Rating, Borough v Sum of Reviews, Borough v Count of Verified, etc. A 3D Map was used to plot latitude and longitude. The data used in the above analysis was compiled on March 26, 2022.
